Chris joined the Robins in November 2014 after a successful spell as Neil Gibson's assistant manager at Prestatyn Town.

Hughes, formerly assistant at Rhyl, Buckley and Caersws, guided Newtown into the top six last season, and has done so again this campaign, while also leading his side to a Welsh Cup Final.

He also guided the club to their first European campaign in 17 years and their first ever Europa League win beating Valletta 4-2 on aggregate. 

Hughes, who works as a Sports Development Officer for Wrexham Borough Council has also worked for the Welsh Football Trust and his currently taking his Pro-Licence course. 

The Players 

    • Goalkeeper

    • Date Of Birth: 3rd February 1990
    Dave is going into his third season as the Robins number one after returning from Caersws.
    He has established himself as one of the leading goalkeepers in the Welsh Premier League, played in all four of Robins European games last summer, and was key in the club's run to the play-offs last season.
    • Winger

    • Nationality: English
    • Date Of Birth: 19th May 1998
    Kenton joined the Robins in January 2017 from West Midland League side Tividale FC.
    The pacey winger spent seven years at Wolverhampton Wanderers, before a two year spell as a scholar with Shrewsbury Town Youth team.
    • Defender

    • Nationality: English
    • Date Of Birth: 27th February 1992
    A former youth and reserve team captain at Wrexham, Clowes was offered a short term deal at the Dragons in 2014.
    However he opted for the Welsh Premier League and signed for Bangor City.
    He spent two and a half seasons at Nantporth, where he made his debut in August 2014 in a 3-1 League Cup win over Newtown.
    In January, he signed for Airbus, where he had spent time on loan while at Wrexham.

    • Date Of Birth: 11th October 1992

    KME was a youngster at Chester City and Shrewsbury Town, before joining the Robins on his release at 18.
    He has been a mainstay every since, a key part of the Robins rise in recent years, and has clocked up over 100 starts in a Newtown shirt.
    • Midfielder

    • Nationality: USA
    The 31-year-old was born in the USA, and was capped by the county's Under 17 and 20 sides, and captained them at both levels.

    He signed a professional contract at Stoke City, before departing for Shrewsbury Town in 2005, where he made 18 appearances, scoring two goals.
    Following his spell with the Shrews, he began a successful career in non-league football, turning out for Brackley Town and Nuneaton, before his first spell with Halesowen in 2007, where he played 98 times.
    After a brief spell with Leamington, he re-signed for Halesowen before going on to make over 100 appearances for Hednesford Town.
    He had a long spell with Solihull Moors, before returning to Halesowen in 2015 and becoming captain of the side.
    • Striker

    • Date Of Birth: 1st April 1988
    Made his WPL debut for Caersws as a 16-year-old before a move to Latham Park in 2004.
    Two seasons later, Mitchell became a Bluebird, but became a Robin once more in January 2014, as one of Chris Hughes' first signings.
    Ever present since then, making his name with top class long range strikes.
    • Striker

    • Nationality: Welsh
    • Date Of Birth: 3rd February 1992
    Rushton re-joined the club on loan from GAP Connah's Quay in January 2017.
    He first spent time at Latham Park on loan from Wrexham, scoring 13 times in 28 games during the 2011/2012 season. He also helped the Robins to the League Cup Final.
    Released by Wrexham in 2015 following loan spells with Barrow and Hednesford Town, he joined GAP Connah's Quay, where he has played 30 times.
    • Striker

    • Date Of Birth: 30th January 1988

    Mr Versatile has played in every position since signing from Newbridge On Wye back in 2011.
    He has always been an asset to the side in his days as a striker, now as a midfielder.
    Regarded as one of the best headers of a ball in the WPL, Boundford always chips in with his fair share of goals.

    • Date Of Birth: 13th August 1987
    Reed began his career with Wrexham and has played for a range of clubs including Glentoran and Colwyn Bay before spending time plying his trade in Australia.
    His first spell in the Welsh Premier League came with Bangor City, before playing in the English system with Tamworth and York, who he gained promotion to League Two with.
    Stints at Cambridge and Chester followed, before he returned to the Welsh system with TNS.
    In recent seasons he has also turned out for Aberystwyth Town, Llandudno and Bangor, where he spent last season.
    Reed decided to stay in the Welsh system, signing for the Robins in June 2017.
    • Winger

    • Nationality: English
    • Date Of Birth: 31st January 1997
    Murphy began his career in the Welsh Premier League with Airbus in the 2015/16 season.
    After graduating from the club's academy, he had a stellar first season and was named Welsh Premier League young player of the season.
    However in his second season the club were relegated to the Huws Gray Alliance.
    Murphy opted to leave the Airfield, and arrived at Newtown in June 2017.
    • Midfielder

    • Nationality: Welsh
    • Date Of Birth: 16th June 1997
    Harries signed for the Robins in summer 2017 from rivals Caersws.
    Previously he had been part of the TNS youth academy, before signing for Aberystwyth Town.
    He spent time at Spar Mid Wales League side Carno, where he caught the eye of Caersws.
    He signed for the Huws Gray Alliance outfit and became a regular at the Rec, before signing for the Robins.
    • Goalkeeper

    • Nationality: English
    • Date Of Birth: 31st October 1997
    Perry, a former TNS academy stopper, broke his way into the Robins squad two years ago, and made his debut at 16 in a 4-3 win over Prestatyn.
    Understudy to Dave Jones, and performs when called upon. Also part of the club's Under 19 side.
    • Midfielder

    • Nationality: Welsh
    • Date Of Birth: 22nd July 1988
    2015 saw the former Birmingham City man return to Latham Park after a two year break from football.
    He began at Cheltenham Town, and was signed by the Blues, and earned himself a Welsh under 23 cap.
    He has had spells with Gloucester and Worcester and first signed for Newtown in 2011.
    A sweet left foot, Price is a big asset to the Robins.
    • Defender

    • Date Of Birth: 17th March 1993
    Litchfield signed for the Robins from Guilsfield this summer.
    He had spent two years with the Huws Gray Alliance club, where he helped them to a fifth placed finish two years ago.
    Prior to that the central defender had spent time with Shropshire sides St Martins and Morda United.
    • Midfielder

    • Date Of Birth: 21st September 1995
    Kershaw arrived on a permanent deal from TNS this summer.
    He has enjoyed a long spell with TNS, featuring in European squads before a move to Cefn Druids.
    • Defender

    • Nationality: Welsh
    • Date Of Birth: 21st December 1987

    Craig is now moving into his 10th season with the Robins, 12th in total.
    A loyal local player who had a brief spell with Aberystwyth Town, he has clocked up over 300 WPL appearances, and featured in all four European games last summer.
    Previously a contestant on the Sky talent show Football Icon, Williams made his 300th WPL start against Bala Town in March.
    Named club captain for the 2017/2018 season
    • Midfielder

    • Nationality: Welsh
    • Date Of Birth: 12th January 1990
    Goodwin joined the Robins in 2013 from Llanidloes Town, and has gone on to be one of the best local transfers in recent times.
    Formerly of Rhayader, Presteigne and Llandrindod Wells, Tom has come a long way under the management set up, and is a mainstay in the side.
    Has bagged vital goals in the last two years to secure European football, and was named player of the season in 2015.
    • Winger

    • Nationality: Welsh
    • Date Of Birth: 28th January 1983
    Proven WPL pedigree to add to a very young Robins side.
    Williams began league life at Carmarthen Town and earned himself a trial with Southampton.
    A spell with Taffs Well followed, and then onto Llanelli.
    After a successful period in South Wales he was signed by TNS in 2008.
    He returned on loan to Llanelli in 2011, signing permanently again after leaving TNS.
    Following the demise of the Reds, he then signed for Aberystwyth Town in 2013. He became Hughes' first signing last summer.
    • Midfielder

    • Date Of Birth: 20th May 1999
    Williams has been part of the Robins Under 19 set up, and has been catching the eye over the last season.
    Last year he was playing on a Saturday for Llandrindod Wells in the Spar Mid Wales League, and has now signed forms with the Robins first team squad.
    • Midfielder

    • Nationality: Welsh
    • Date Of Birth: 9th August 1996
    Cartwright signed for the Robins in August 2017 after a successful loan spell.
    He spent many years at Wrexham and signed professional forms in 2015.
    On his release from the Dragons he spent time at Nuneaton and Colwyn Bay.

    • Date Of Birth: 11th August 2000
    Evans became part of the first team set up last season and has been training with the side since.
    He was part of the Shrewsbury Town academy from nine to 15, before joining Hereford United Under 16's.
    From there he signed for Gareth Watkin's Newtown Under 19 side.
    • Defender

    Signed first team forms with the Robins in January 2017 after an impressive spell in Gareth Watkins' under 19 side.
    • Assistant Manager

    Callum became Robins assistant back in 2013, working first with Bernie McNally and now Chris Hughes. Callum has over 15 years coaching experience, presently working for Shrewsbury Town FC's Acadmey overseeing part of their youth department. Callum previously worked for Cardiff City FC and Everton FC in the USA.
    Previously he has also played for the Robins in the days of Brian Coyne.
    • First Team Coach

    • Nationality: English
    • Date Of Birth: 18th April 1986
    Cadwallader returned to the club in January 2015 after a previous spell with the Robins.
    He turned out as a professional at Shrewsbury Town, before spells with Druids, Aberystwyth and Airbus.
    After coming back from injury mid way through last season, Cadwallader struggled to get back in the side.
    In the summer he retired from the game and was installed as first team coach in the Robins back room team.

    A Newtown girl, Sophie comes from a family dominated by Football. Her father was Under 19s coach and Sophie and her brother have been part of the club for many years. Currently working as a physiotherapist at Wye Valley NHS Trust.
    • Goalkeeping coach

    Joined Chris Hughes' coaching staff in 2014 after a spell with Cefn Druids.
    Has worked with the impressive Dave Jones and Jack Perry in the recent season.
    Former academy director at Cefn Durids, former NEFA girls centre director regional LD goalkeeper coach and double B UEFA licence holder.
    • Kitman

    Rose is a former Robins goalkeeper, who was in the squad for one of their European home games in the 90's.
    Has been part of the youth team set up, and last season part of the first team back room staff, replacing Tyler Clifton this season as kit man.
