And More Postponements Newtown AFC vs Carmarthen Town OFF
With the big freeze threatening to get worse
over night Newtown AFC board called for an early pitch inspection at 2:30pm today, they felt that this time would best represent
the possible conditions for our important home clash with Carmarthen. WPL referee believed the ground to be to dangerous to
play on and has cancelled tomorrow's game. After Wednesday nights late postponement
and tomorrows game being cancelled disappointment is flowing through the club but negotiations with Prestatyn have brought
some good news as our next home game is now just next week on Tuesday the 7th of February. Newtown AFC vs Prestatyn Town in
the League cup k.o 7:30
Game OFF The League cup game against Prestatyn Was called OFF after Referee Bryn
Markham-Jones deamed the goal areas as frozen and unplayable. A WPL referee had given a green light for the game to go
ahead earlier in the day after a 12:30 pitch inspection. But as the lights faded and the temperature dropped there was no
way for the game to go ahead. Conversations are now taking place to rearrange this fixture that is poised at 1-1 with a place
against Bangor in the next round up for grabs.

Game of Two Halves League Cup Result (1st leg) Saturday 21 Jan 2012 Prestatyn
Town 1 - 1 Newtown Afc J Fisher-Cooke 28'
62' Callum Wright In a game dominated by strong wind and rain, both sides took advantage
of the elements in a proverbial game of two halves. Prestatyn held the upper hand up to half time and held the lead thanks
to Jon Fisher-Cooke's 24th minute header. Former Robin Ross Stephens also saw a speculative 30 yarder almost catch
Newtown Keeper Nick Thomas off guard before hitting the woodwork, But Steve Blenkinsop nearly levelled on the stroke of half
time when he just failed to connect with a Gareth Partridge cross and then fired over the bar from a shot on the turn. In the second period the wind gained more strength and blew 3 Newtown corners into the crowd. But returning
midfielder Callum Wright hit the crossbar with a rising drive and then produced a clinical finish after a strong run. Seasiders
keeper Jon Hill-Dunt made two good saves, first palming a Nick Rushton shot around the post and tipping a goal bound
effort from Jamie Price over the Bar as the Visitors finished the game with their tails up. The Second Leg is to be played
Wednesday the 1st Febuary 2012 at 7:30 at Latham Park. With a chance for the Robins to progress to the next round and
a game gainst Bangor City waiting, the game promises to be a lively affair.
