Back in time with the Robins

Eight years ago today.....

Eight years ago today the Robins took part in one of the most bizarre games in many years.

It was bizarre for many reasons, both on and off the pitch.

With fans looking forward to a Friday night derby clash under the lights at Welshpool's Maesydre ground, the preparations got off to the worst possible start.

When arriving at the ground, the Robins realised they had left their kit behind at Latham Park, and after finding home shirts, they managed to muddle a kit together.

Then Darren Ryan's men were hit with another blow as defender, and now first team coach Gavin Cadwallader was stranded in his broken down car on the Shropshire border.

Then after the start they blew Welshpool away in 21 minutes.

Despite fine saves from stand in keeper Steve Bellersby, the Robins were 3-0 up early on.

Paul Roberts scored after 15 minutes, before Roberts again and Adam Worton struck to made it a comfortable lead.

Wrexham youngster Jordan Kane, on loan from Wrexham got one back for the home side, before Roberts completed his treble and Stephens added another in stoppage time.

A bizarre evening all round.
