Clowes: "I jumped at chance to sign"

Defender made Robins debut in tonight's win

Leon Clowes says he jumped at the chance to sign for the club and is excited ahead of the new campaign.

The defender signed for the club after spending the back end of last season on loan at Airbus, and he made his Robins debut this evening in a 2-0 pre-season win over Berriew.

Clowes, 25, is one of six summer signings made by Chris Hughes, and all featured in tonight痴 win.

Speaking after the game, Clowes said: 的知 really excited about the move, and I知 optimistic going into the season.

敵ames for Bangor and Airbus against Newtown have always been tough, they are a very decent and organised side.

的 jumped at the chance to sign. When Chris rang me I made my mind up and signed within two days.

的t was good to get minutes under my belt tonight ahead of a tough pre-season.

Clowes season last year was plagued by a hamstring injury, which saw his game time restricted in the second phase with Airbus.

However he is gunning to get his fitness back up to full speed now, ahead of the season opener against Bala Town in August.

Clowes added: 典he gaffer has given me my confidence back, training has been good and it is good to get 60 minutes tonight.

的致e got the fire back in my belly and I can稚 wait to get going.

的 was good to dust the cobwebs off tonight as I hadn稚 played in a while.

敵etting games is the main thing, and pre-season will get tougher and the better pre-season we have the better start we will have to the campaign.
