Injury ends Reed's season

Striker ruptured his achilles against Carmarthen

Newtown have been dealt a blow as striker Jamie Reed has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

The 30-year-old striker has bagged eight goals in 22 appearances for the Reds this season, but he won't be increasing his goal tally this season.

He went down just before the break against Carmarthen Town on Saturday, and after being assessing he has been diagnosed with a ruptured achilles.

The striker, who joined from Llandudno in the summer, took to Twitter to thank people for their get well soon messages.

He said: "Thanks guys! I'll be back in pre-season, if the gaffer still wants me!"
