Reed hopes goal sparks off run

Striker scored in 2-0 cup win

Striker Jamie Reed is hoping his Welsh Cup goal spark off a run of finding the net.

Reed scored from a tight angle in the second period to seal a 2-0 victory over Guilsfield at Latham Park.

Reed hasn’t scored as many goals as it would have liked, and is hoping today’s can spur him on to more.

He said: “It was an alright performance from us all, the work rate and passion was there.

“In spells we lacked a little bit of quality, but it was nice to chip in with a goal.

“We’re a good side, and up to the final third we’ve been good but as a team we’ve lacked a little bit of quality.

“We want to get consistency and I want to score more goals of course I do, that is what every striker wants.”

Reed insisted the Robins didn’t underestimate their opponents today, who made it difficult for the Robins throughout the game.

Reed added: “It was a local derby and they came to make it tough, you could tell they were buzzing for it but I think our quality showed through.

“The gaffer said how important the first goal was and we tend to win when we get the first goal.

“Now we want use this as momentum, and it is always nice to have a cup run, it sets your season up well.”
