Robins Suffer first defeat of season

Single Port Talbot goal decides the destination of the points

With back to back games against Port Talbot underway, The Robins returned from the Genquip empty handed last night, Friday the 31st of August.

Bernie traveled with a strong squad with only new signing Hogan missing.and hopes were high after the heriocs against Bangor last Saturday. Unfortunately it was a case of after the Lord mayors show as a solitary David Brookes goal on 21 minutes decided the fate of where the points were heading.

Chances and shots were few and far between as both keepers Roberts and Richards had very quiet nights, Bernie rang in the changes in the second half with Zac, Steve and Josh coming on for Gaz, Iain and Whitfield but the scoreline remained the same and Newtown recorded their first defeat of the season.

Bernie was happy with the display saying "we must take our chances Tuesday night, One goal seperated us tonight and it was a tight game. Port Talbot and Marc Jones have a strong team and play some nice football, But as we showed last week against Bangor we also play some great football, we must not let the hard work we did against Bangor go to waste and points are needed." He continued " points have been lost tonight and the players will now pick themselves back up and prepare for Tuesday night."
