Stalemate at the Rock

REPORT - Druids 0-0 Robins

The Robins earned a solid point in today's stalemate at The Rock which could have been won by either side.

The first period belonged to Druids, but the Robins had the better efforts in the second period and had three good chances to win the game.

However it wasn't to be and it may be a vital point come the end of January.

Two penalty shouts by the home supporters were dismissed by the ref, as it was Druids who dominated the opening period.

Lewis Buckley and Ashley Ruane both headed wide, with the latter also pulling a fine save out of Dave Jones.

Another penalty shout, this time on Mike Pritchard was again turned down, before the Robins went close with their first attack.

Luke Boundford did well to win the ball out wide, and Nick Rushton crossed for Jamie Reed, who saw his volley clip the outside of the post.

Druids best chance came in the final moment of the half.

First Jamie Price got back in time at the back post to deny Alec Mudimu a clear header.

In the same move the ball cannoned up in the air for Ruane, whose acrobatic over head kick was kept out by Jones.

It was a completely different Town side who came out in the second period.

First Rushton pulled it back for Neil Mitchell whose shot was blocked, before a goal mouth scramble was cleared.

Jamie Price had a free kick fly just past the post from long range on the hour mark, with the Robins on top.

The Robins lost an attacking option shortly after, as Tom Goodwin, covering a centre half for the suspended Kieran Mills-Evans went off injured, and Mitchell dropped into the back four.

The games best chance came for the Robins 20 minues from time.

Reed crossed low and the ball hit Boundford into the path of Craig Williams, who looked as if he was about to score, but a Druids defender threw himself in front of the shot.

Down the other end Ruane was denied when one on one with Jones, before Ryan Kershaw ran the lengtyh of the field to fire wide, as the game became stretched.

Both sides were going for it without any clear cut efforts.

As the clock ticked into the 94th minute Price put a free kick into the box and it fell to Rushton, but he couldn't get a clear connection.
