Successful Girls Festival at Newtown

Bid to increase Girls participation

Newtown AFC's Griffiths Construction Latham Park was the location of a very successful Girls Festival yesterday, Sunday 5th November. Organised by Paul Inns of Berriew Juniors, the event was very popular and is the biggest ever held in the Mid & North Powys area for girls.

24 teams from U8s to U16s attended and Paul was ably assisted by Newtown Whitestars Girls Coach, Paula Ewers, ensuring the day ran smoothly.

Paul Inns said, "It was fantastic to see so many players taking part throughout the day and also a huge Thanks to Newtown AFC's Community Fund who met the cost of the pitch provision."

Newtown AFC Secretary, Owen Durbridge, said, "The Community Fund is designed to assist the Club achieve its long term community objectives, and one of those is to help increase girls and Ladies football in the area. We were delighted to assist in the staging of this tournament and would like to compliment the organisers for their initiative."
