"We need something to fall for us"

Gaffer gunning for three precious points

Chris Hughes believes the Robins need something to fall for them in Saturday's massive clash with basement club Carmarthen Town.

After a rotten run of results, Newtown are 11th in the table, one place above Saturday's opponents.

Hughes insisted it is a massive game and that his side deserve a little bit of luck.

He said: "It is a big game for both sides because none of the sides are where they want to be that is for sure.

"But we have come through a really difficult period where we have played all of the top six bar TNS.

"It has been really though and we are the other side now.

"I think at times in games we have been really good, but it is important we go there on Saturday and put a big performance in.

"They will be up for it, and if someone offered me a scrappy 1-0 now I would take it."

Performances against Cardiff Met and Llandudno seemed flat from the Robins, but despite the defeat last week's performance against Bangor City was much improved.

And Hughes wants more of the same on Saturday.

He added: "I think Met game was tough for both sides, it wasn't really a game.

"And Llandudno was tough with the wind but we should have got someone from it.

"Things haven't been going for us and it is tough, really tough.

"But it will fall for us, something will go for us and we need that on Saturday.

"We need to get three points on Saturday and we are looking forward to it."

Jamie Price is still missing and Tom Goodwin is a doubt through injury.

Jay Denny and Ryan Kershaw miss out through suspension.
