Colwyn Bay 1-8 Newtown Academy

Newtown kicked off the Academy season with a strong performance away to Colwyn Bay winning comfortably 1-8. Ollie Woods lead the line well with 2 quality strikes in the first half with new signing Lyndon Jones causing havoc on the right wing scoring two also making the half time score 0-4. Man of the match Captain Sam Evans pulled the strings in midfield which allowed freedom for Ieaun Morgan-Thomas (1) and Josh Morgan (2) to get forward and score freely in the second half with Jamie Dockerty finishing the route. Colwyn Bay had a penalty in the last few minutes to score a consolation goal.

Robins: Harding, Whittington, Bowers, Hamer, Rimmer, J Jones, Morgan, S Evans, Morgan-Thomas, Astley, L Jones

Subs: Dockerty, Woods, Vowies, Morgan, Barr

Rhyl 1 - 8 Newtown Academy

Newtown Academy Under 16 continued their impressive start to the season with another convincing 1-8 away win against Rhyl. A great team performance with goals being shared by Ollie Woods (2), Jordan Jones, Sam Evans, Francis Barr, Jamie Dockerty, Cameron Vowles and a Josh Astley penalty. All players contributed equally but Francis Barr in a new midfield role showed why the club has put faith in him this season.

Team: E Harding, S Bowers, J Jones, L Rimmer, S Hamer, J Astley, S Evans, F Barr, I Morgan-Thomas, J Dockerty, O Woods, K Morgan, J Morgan, C Vowles, L Cornish, L Whittington

Newtown 3 v 2 TNS

A great team performance from Newtown after conceding an early goal against a very physical TNS team. Newtown lost captain Sam Evans after a heavy late tackle after 15 mins but a reshuffle in midfield maintained the work rate and they went in at half time 0-1. A stunning second half hat trick from centre forward Ollie Woods and a solid display in goal from Ed Harding was the basis of the victory. Woods stood out against a laboring TNS defense who did not know how to handle him scoring two with great shots and the winner with a well timed header. The defense of Sam Bowers, Jordan Jones, Francis Barr, Lloyd Cornish and Liam Whittington stood strong under immense TNS pressure in the last few minutes and midfield Jamie Dockerty, Kyle Morgan, Ieaun Morgan-Thomas, Sam Hamer, Josh Astley & Cameron Vowles ran themselves into the ground.
