Newtown Manager, Chris Hughes, was delighted to confirm the signing of former Welsh International David Cotterill.

Hughes said. “ I am delighted to get the signing over the line and get David on board. His experience is just what we need and he also adds know how to our squad”

Born in Cardiff he began his career with Bristol City before signing for Premier League Wigan Athletic and then joining Sheffield United.

He then joined Swansea City before spending a spell on loan at Portsmouth before transferring to Barnsley.

It was then on to Doncaster Rovers before joining Birmingham City. After a short on loan spell with Bristol City his contract with the Blues was cancelled by mutual consent and he joined ATK of the Indian Super League.

In January 2020 he came out of retirement to play for Barry Town United.

Cotterill is also a former Welsh International, making his debut against Azerbaijan in October 2005 and has also played for the Welsh U19s and 21s.
