TOP six and and a Europa League push are the only things on George Hughes’ mind – after the youngster re-signed for the Robins last week.

Hughes, a product of the Shrewsbury Town academy, enjoyed a loan spell at Latham Park in the second half of the 2018/2019 season.

He scored a memorable goal against Barry Town, before going on to spend a season with Airbus.

He’s now back at the Robins on a permanent basis and has Europe in his sights.

He said: ‘Obviously with it being my local club and with me enjoying my loan spell here, when the offer came I couldn’t really turn it down.

‘It was good to play a lot of competitive games when I was last here including the play offs.

‘Also to win player of the month and even score was good.

‘Top six has to be the aim and really push for Europe, but with that I also want to just play as much as I can.’

Hughes is one of the latest of a big Mid Wales group coming together at Latham Park. Long serving Kieran Mills-Evans, Craig Williams, Dave Jones and Neil Mitchell have all remained from last season.

They’re now joined by James Davies, Jamie Breese and Hughes himself.

He added: ‘You know it is a great set up here with a great group of lads, and they are getting closer to Europe every season.

‘If we play like we can and make Latham Park a really tough place to come, there is no reason we can’t get into Europe.

‘And to bring Breezy and James Davies in, two more local lads, along with the other top signings it is great.’
