INTERVIEW: HUGHES EYES CUP PROGRESS
ROBINS’ boss, Chris Hughes, is relishing the start of competitive action on Saturday as we host Guilsfield in the Nathaniel MG Cup (kick-off 5pm).
“It’s a good initiative to start this competition a week before the League gets underway,” he said. “We’re finally looking forward to getting some competitive action.
“It’s a bit of a local derby and it has all the ingredients to be a good game. They are similar to us in the sense that they punch above their weight at the level they’re in and I know they will come here and be tricky opponents.
“As far as we are concerned, we want to progress as far as we can in every competition that we enter. We ended pre-season with a tough run of three games in a week and came through it well.
“The Nantwich game last weekend gave us the chance to get some good minutes into some of the lads that needed them and there were some pleasing elements in our performance.
“We looked clinical and took our goals well. Their ‘keeper also made a number of good saves, so it stands us in good stead now for the new season.”
It would be great to see as many of you in attendance as possible to cheer on Chris Hughes and the boys. Admission prices have been set at just £5 for adults, £3 for over-65s and £1 for under-18s.
