Match Preview: Ffostrasol (H)

Newtown return to cup action this weekend as they host Tier 4 side Ffostrasol, with the Robins looking to continue their strong momentum in the competition. As a Tier 2 club, Newtown enter the tie as clear favourites, but the squad will be fully aware that nothing can be taken for granted in knockout football.

It’s been a positive tournament so far for the Robins, with several players stepping up at key moments. Jamie Hyne, who has already found the net four times in the competition, will once again be one to watch, while Alfie Davies also made his mark in earlier rounds with a well-taken brace against Berriew.

Ffostrasol arrive with confidence of their own. Unbeaten in the MMP Central Wales League South and sitting third with games in hand, they have proven they can compete at the sharp end of their division. Their standout performer this season has been Keane Moore, who has an outstanding 24 goal contributions in 13 matches across all competitions.

They also showed their threat in the last round, producing a notable 1–0 away win over Tier 3 Llanfair.

However, Newtown’s experience, depth and quality across the pitch make them strong favourites. With home advantage and a squad hungry to progress further, the Robins will be aiming to take control of the match from the start and ensure there are no surprises.

Newtown will be looking to reach the last four and get closer to their first silverware of the season.
