The face of Latham Park changed forever in July 2014, when the club had an artificial 3G pitch installed.

The surface has allowed junior clubs and organisations around the area to rent the pitch for use, as well as being used by the Robins academy and senior sides.

It is used year round, and has become a hub for community activity as the club collaborates with partners to put on a host of events.

It has been used by senior sides all the way through to sessions for disability and mental health football.

The pitch is well kept and is available to hire for training sessions, recreational football sessions and for matches

NOTE – Only moulded studs and astroturf trainers are allowed to be used on the pitch, metal studs and blades are not.

The Surface & Pitch Hire

The ‘next generation’ or ‘Third Generation’ artificial grass surfaces have a rubber crumb and sand infill for extra performance.

This type of surface utilises longer fibres (up to 65mm, Newtown AFC have 40mm conducive to football) to ensure it can hold both rubber and sand infill the levels of which can be adjusted to produce optimum playing characteristics.

These are generally regarded as being about as safe to play on as a typical natural grass surface, perhaps even safer in cold conditions.

Hire Use

Our 3G pitch can be hired (subject to availability) for recreational & training use, for matches large or small sided, for delivery of practical coaching / fitness sessions, for events associated with sporting activities (subject to confirmation).

All enquiries are welcome from recreational to corporate use.
