REPORT: MORE SHOOT-OUT HEARTACHE FOR ROBINS
Newtown suffered more penalty heartache as Guilsfield progressed in the Nathaniel MG Cup, winning on penalties in sudden death.
Newtown gave debuts to keeper Andy Wycherley, Dom Smith and Robbie Evans but it was the returning Jason Oswell who marked his Robins return finishing off a great Zeli Ismail cross after only 12 minutes with the Robins to rue missed chances and good Guilsfield defending to keep them in the game at the break.
Andrew Evans brought the scores level a few minutes into the second half and had a good spell themselves.
Both team battled it out with Aaron Williams seeing his header roll the wrong side of the post before 90 and 10 minutes or injury time couldn’t separate the teams.
Mathew Jones missed Newtowns first penalties but Ismail and Callum Roberts found the target while Guilsfield missed their first three penalties.
Aaron Williams saw his effort to win the game saved while Macaulay Taylor fired over Newtowns last chance to win whilst Guilsfield held their nerve to take it into sudden death at 2-2
Both teams made it 3-3 before Ryan Sears fired over to leave Adam Knott to score the winning penalty.
