THE OPENING GAME OF THE LEAGUE SEASON
Ahead of our opening JD Cymru Premier League fixture against The New Saints at Latham Park on Saturday, we spoke to manager, Chris Hughes to ascertain his thoughts on the game. It is fair to say Chris was in a buoyant mood during the interview and is relishing the chance to take on the reigning champions in the opening game – he said:
“We are all looking forward to the game, we have a couple of players back who missed the League Cup tie at Cardiff Met last week and there has been a good buzz about the players during our training sessions this week. We know that we are in for a very competitive game against The New Saints, but it is one that we look forward to. Our opponents have recently appointed Craig Harrison for a second spell in charge, Craig is somebody who I get on very well with and I always enjoy playing and competing against his teams”
“The weeks leading up to the game have been slightly different to other years due to the fact that we were in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds, but I think having the chance to play competitive games before the league opener will stand us in good stead”
“Like always when we play any team, we will respect our opponents but also look to impose our game on them in order to achieve a positive result”
As always, we thank Chris very much indeed for taking the time to talk to us and wish him, the players, and coaching staff all the very best of luck for the game tomorrow.
