Match Preview – Gresford Athletic (A)

Tonight Newtown travel to The Hollingsworth Group Stadium where they face Gresford Athletic under the lights for an 8PM kick-off.

Gresford currently sit 13th in the table and drew in their last game away at Brickfield Rangers.

Gresford’s star man so far in the campaign has been Jake Roberts, he’s managed to get 17 goal contributions in 15 games across all competitions.

Newtown will want to pick up back to back clean sheets for the first time in the league this season. They picked up a 1-0 victory against Holyhead Hotspur on Saturday in the league before travelling to Kerry in the CWFA Senior Cup on the Sunday, they ran out 5-2 victors.

The Robin’s will be strengthened at the back with Steff Jones available after a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards.

Newtown boss Nathan Leonard will be wanting a winning return against Gresford after he departed the side as a coach last season. Leonard has a strong record against Gresford with three wins, three draws and just one loss.

The other affiliations in the ‘Town squad are goalkeeper Michael Jones who had two spells at the Colliers and also Charley Edge who was their vice-captain last season.

Attacker Devon Torry will be looking to carry on his goalscoring form and make it three consecutive games with a goal in the JD Cymru North.

The Powys based team are currently fourth in the table behind Llandudno in the automatic promotion places and a win would apply pressure to the top three sides.

Up the Robins!
