Devon Torry fired a 88 minute winner as Newtown came from behind to beat Penrhycoch but needed a master class from goal keeper Dave Jones to help Newtown take the points.
It was the home side who created the better chances in a goalless first half with Jones tipping over a header before saving from point blank range to keep the Robins in the game.
The second half followed a similar pattern, Jones again denying from close range with the rebound being fired over but the home side got their rewards when Dion Phillips fired home after good work by Tomos Evans with 50 minutes on the clock.
Newtown drew level when Steff Jones headed in his second goal of the season from Aidan McCann’s free kick.
Newtown’s captain Kieran Mills-Evans made his first appearance after 16 months out which saw Robbie Evans pushed into midfield and it was his ball that released Ollie Sharp and his cross found Devon Torry who fired home the winner to send the big Newtown following a short trip home with 3 big points.
